Susie came to GAAS last week. Her owner kept her for breeding, until a wonderful lady rescued her and brought her to us. The photo shows how underweight she is, but she's now safe with one of our dog fosterers.
Raven was handed in by her owners. She's 18 months old and pregnant with her second litter. We frequently take in pregnant cats, and have blogged before about being called out to save abandoned kittens. Getting cats and dogs neutered or spayed at a suitable age is crucial for their welfare and to cut down on the number of abused and abandoned mothers and kittens / puppies. Cats Protection have a neutering scheme for cat owners who are on benefits, earn under £25,000 per year or are full-time students. If this could help you, visit https://www.cats.org.uk/what-we-do/neutering/financial-assistance for more details.

Flora, Shadow and Mulky have all had their operations and we have good news - Flora has full sight! She has some scarring on her eye but it doesn't bother her, so she's now on our adoption page looking for her new home.
Shadow is recovering from his tail operation and Mulky is going back to the vet on Monday for follow-up care. We couldn't have afforded the operations without your help, so THANK YOU to everyone who donated. Now we need to keep looking after these kittens and all the other kittens and cats in our care.
Dear Friends and Animal Lovers,
We are reaching out to you with an urgent plea for assistance in raising funds for three precious kittens who desperately need medical care. The first kitten is Flora (pictured). One of her eyes is still closed, so vets need to operate to open the eye to see whether it needs to be removed. Mulky has an anal prolapse. We've tried everything but she needs an operation to correct it. Shadow lost half his tail in an accident. We rushed him to the emergency vet, who said that he needs the rest of the tail taken off asap to stop infection from spreading. Despite our best efforts, we have limited resources. We're struggling to afford medical expenses for these kittens on top of our everyday expenses for food and vet care. We refuse to give up on Flora, Mulky and Shadow, but we can't do this alone. Your support can make a world of difference in their lives. By contributing to our fundraising efforts, you can help cover the costs of their veterinary treatments, medications, and ongoing care. Here's how you can help: 1: Make a Donation: Any amount, no matter how small, will go directly towards Flora, Mulky and Shadow's medical expenses. Your generosity will provide them with the critical care they urgently need.

2: Share Their Story: Spread the word about our fundraising campaign with your friends, family, and social networks. Every share brings us one step closer to reaching our goal and giving these kittens a chance at a healthy future. 3: Offer Support: If you're unable to donate, consider offering support in other ways, such as donating supplies or volunteering your time to help care for the kittens. We believe that every life is precious and deserving of love and compassion. With your help, we can ensure that these 3 kittens receive the lifesaving care they need to overcome their illness and thrive. Thank you. At the end of December, we received a call from a very worried lady about a mummy cat and her kitten dumped inside a carrier covered by a black bag, just dumped like trash.
We rushed to get there to find these poor babies shivering cold and totally covered in urine and poo. We quickly took them into the car, changed carriers and gave them some much-needed food. We don't know how long they were out there for, but looking at them and the inside of the carrier it was over a day. We rushed them to their foster carer, who had to bathe them both as their poor white fur was stained yellow. They didn't even make any fuss while having a bath. Now under our wings and being loved and cared for, these two will never have to worry again about not being loved. We'll be in store at Pets at Home, Feltham this coming bank holiday weekend.
Come and see us Saturday or Sunday, from 10am to 4pm - find out what we do, how we fundraise and the issues we face trying to help animals needing help. “Wesley” our amazing rescue cat, had his final stitches out on Monday 24th April, for those of you who have followed him on our Facebook page, we know you will all be delighted for him.
He was taken in as a long term stray, an entire tom, many weeks ago and due to an untreated neglected eye infection, it rendered him blind in both eyes, so very sadly he had to have major surgery to have them removed. Obviously this incurred huge veterinary costs and we (GA) are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to our appeal, which amassed a total of over £1000 towards his surgery and follow up visits. We are hugely thankful to everyone who helped “Wesley” in any way, be it financially, providing transportation to and from the vets. We would like to offer our sincere thanks to Youngs Veterinary Partnership, Hounslow and their staff for their care and assistance shown to him. If you'd like to donate to help cover some of Wesley's current and ongoing treatment please use the donate link on our homepage. Once his rehabilitation is complete, we will be looking for a truly special indoor home for him, so watch this space please!! Over the Easter weekend, as part of our commitment to the scheme, a rota of volunteers were in the store for a total of 19 hours(!!) collecting money and food for Guardian Angels. A magnificent effort by all, and we would like to thank everyone who supported us, by doing a shift or donating. Without your help we couldn’t fulfill our commitment to the scheme. We will know sometime in May how much money we collected, again huge thanks to all. Guardian Angels Animal Support were thrilled that we were the Feltham Pets@Home nominated charity back in 2022.
Following on from this partnership, with the Pets at Home Foundation-Santa Paws appeal, we are delighted to announce that a total of £959.57p was credited to our bank account, from our efforts during the appeal. We would like to extend massive thanks to everyone who participated on our volunteer rota to enable us to fulfil our required 36 hour target for the event - very well done all. Last year was an extremely busy year for us, we were all working flat out, especially during the summer months. We helped a huge number of animals, including dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, rabbits and wildlife in a variety of ways, and it is our hope, with your help and support our rescue work will continue this year. It seems almost certain that Guardian Angels will be partnered with Feltham Pets at Home for 2023, for which we are all very grateful and will keep you updated with dates for your diary. We anticipate an equally busy year, even busier, as people struggle with the cost of living crisis and are unable to continue to care for their companion animals, and afford veterinary costs. Obviously, like everything else, veterinary expenses have increased, which is another headache for us, and in view of this fact it will be necessary to increase our adoption donation fees, very soon, to help us pay our veterinary bills and other expenses. Scampi, wants you all to know that it’s now 2 years, since he came into Guardian Angels care, and despite his ongoing medical issues, he continues to enjoy life and is extremely happy.
He would also like to say a huge thank to everyone who supports Guardian Angels in any way, with time, money, food and goods. Scampi and all the other animals that come through, or sometimes stay in our care, like him(!) are extremely grateful. |
